Karel Kutsar (KTM) raced to the EMXOpen championship today at the MXGP of Garda Trentino but it was a close-run thing for the Estonian who struggled to nervous 5-10 finishes.
With his closest rival Kim Savaste (KTM) from Finland failing to make it through timed practice, Kutsar held a 29-point advantage at the start of the day over Toms Macuks (KTM).
The overall with a 1-2 card went to Jimmy Clochet (Kawasaki) for the second time in three rounds but the French riderā€™s absence from the opening half of the series meant he was out of title contention. Macuksā€™ 2-3 was good enough for a comfortable second ahead of Martin Michek (KTM) but left him 14 points shy of Kutsar.
Best of the Brits was Dan Thornhill (Cab Screens Deos Group Honda) whose pair of sixth-placed finishes gave him fifth overall. John Adamson (Gabriel Motocross KTM) held down second for most of race one and came home third but a DNF in the closing laps of race two when he was running third dropped him to 11th in the overall classification.
With Brad Anderson (Verde Sport KTM) already crowned EMX2t champ, Italyā€™s Nicholas Lapucci (Fantic) raced to a double win ahead of the Brit with Manuel Iacopi (Yamaha) going 4-3 for third.
