Monster Energy Yamaha Justin Cooper has reportedly suffered a broken foot, which may put him in jeopardy of missing the entire 2022 AMA Supercross season.

This injury will obviously put him out of this weekend’s season opener in Anaheim, as sources say he might not even be ready to return for the east coast season opener which begins on February nineteenth in Minneapolis.

The AMA rulebook indicates Cooper would only have one final year of 250 eligibility to defend his title, and then he would have to move to the 450 class. However, we’re not sure how the rules would work if he doesn’t get to line up for any races at all this year.

Interestingly enough, Cooper’s Monster Energy/Star Yamaha Racing team hasĀ entered Colt Nichols into this weekend’s Anaheim one opener for the West, as Nichols is the defending 250SX Eastern Champion.
