An unforced error in the second moto cost Tom Vialle (Red Bull KTM) the overall MX2 win at the MXGP of Trentino on Sunday but the Frenchman, who turned 20 just days before, maintains a commanding 73-point lead in the championship chase.
Vialle ran 2-3 on the hardpack track for third overall but, more importantly, dropped just one point to his nearest challenger to set himself up for his first world title in just his second year in the series.
ā€œIt was a good day for the championship,ā€ he said. ā€œI was really angry with myself for that small crash in the second moto because I was feeling much better compared to the first race. To lose the GP like that was frustrating.
ā€œAnyway, we have two more GPs to go. Last week I was thinking about the championship and also after the race today but when Iā€™m on the bike I am really focused. I enjoyed the track, so that was an important thing as well.ā€
