Team Italy for MXoN 2018 has been announced, confirming that Tony Cairoli will put country over personal interests as he leads the three-man Italian line-up heading to the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations RedBud on October 6/7.
The nine-time World Champion will make his fourth appearance in a row at the Motocross of Nations and will be joined by the same Team Italy riders from last year’s MXdN. Alessandro Lupino will race the Open class while Michele Cervellin will compete in MX2.
With some injuries picked up this season there was concern from fans that Cairoli would need to sit out the ‘Nations ā it shows the character of the multi-time champion that he is determined to represent his country.
Although Cairoli’s 10th title is slipping away from his grasp this year with factory teammate Herlings owning the MXGP championship, the 32-year-old Sicilian is still key to Team Italy’s chances at RedBud in just over a month’s time.
