The MXGP World Championship is currently scheduled to start on the 22nd and 23rd of May at Oss in the Netherlands, but COVID-19 restrictions could change the calendar completely.

The opening round of the MXGP World Championship is currently scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd of May, but if organisers want to run the event with with fans in attendance, this will no longer will be possible according to local authorities.

ā€œOrganisers of concerts, festivals, sports competitions and congresses can start planning their events again after July first,” explained the Dutch government caretaker cabinet.

“If events have to be canceled due to corona measures, the organizers will receive a kind of cancellation subsidy from the government, and those organizations will receive 80 percent of the costs incurred back as a gift.

“The remainder of the amount is paid out as a loan, and 385 million euros has been reserved for the scheme. The scheme applies to events until December 31st. Events that were initiated last or this year are covered by this regulation if they are moved to a date after July first.”
