MXGP Mantova: Geerts wins opening MX2 moto

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Jago Geerts shot to MX2 race one victory in Mantova, for round two of the FIM World Championship series.

Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle grabbed the fox holeshot ahead of qualifying race winner and Monster Energy Yamaha’s Jago Geerts, but Geerts soon took over the lead by turn two of the first MX2 Moto of the day in Mantova.

Neestan Factory Racing Husqvarna’s Kay De Wolf also had a great start to the opening moto, sitting in fifth before eventually pushing himself up to third place, as he chased down second place man Vialle. Championship leader Simon Langenfelder ultimately finished the race in seventh despite claiming a double win at Matterley Basin last weekend.

SM Action racing teams Andrea Adamo also had a great moto, almost closing the gap on third place man but gaining his best place finish so far of his MX2 Career in fourth position.
