Red Bull KTM’s Jorge Prado grabbed a strong MXGP win at the sandy Kegums circuit for moto two of the day.
Monster Kawasaki’ Romain Febre added another Fox Holeshot to his collection this weekend for the second MXGP moto of the day, as Standing Construct GasGas rider Pauls Jonass went down hard on the start amongst a few other riders.
Meanwhile Red Bull KTM Antonio Cairoli spun out on the opening few corners, dropping himself out of fourth position, but managed to claw his way back to sixth after being way down the pack. As Febvre was leading, he then made a mistake and lost his front end washing out and effectively losing the race lead to Jeffrey Herlings.
This then left the door wide open for Jorge Prado, as his team mate jeffrey made a mistake crashing out of second position in one of the sandy deep corners, which allowed HRC’s Tim Gajser and Febvre to claim second and third, with Gajser taking the overall GP win for the weekend followed by Prado and Herlings who were joint second with both of them claiming 43 points across the two races.
Brit Monster Energy Yamaha rider Ben Watson had some great results in the sand this weekend also, with a solid thirteenth in the first moto and a tenth in the second giving him tenth overall for the weekends results.
