Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s Maxime Renaux was crowned 2021 MX2 World Champion this Sunday, at round sixteen of the FIM World Championships in Italy.

Heading into the final race of the weekend, the young frenchman had a comfortable 101 point lead over his team mate Jago Geerts in the Championship standings. To seal the deal, all he had to do was finish in front of his team mate and and finish with six points of Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle to claim the championship crown.

After setting the fastest lap of the race and making the pass on lap five, Reanux stormed to race victory with confidence and sealed the championship title for 2021.

“This mean a lot to me.’ explained an emotional Renaux.

“We made it! We are the World Champions in 2021 in MX2, so that is a great achievement. We had to work hard for that over the past years, and even the past few rounds have been tough for me, very up and down, but we were able to bounce back today.”

“I am so happy to get the world title with a race win and the GP win, which means a lot to me. It’s always something you want to grab with a win. It was an amazing day for me. I will never forget this for sure!”
