Matterley Basin plays host to round two of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship, with a host of riders challenging the fast flowing tacky circuit.
ASA United GASGAS rider Bobby Bruce had the ride of his life this Saturday at Matterley, showing speed and aggressiveness right from the get go in the EMX125 class. As Bobby pushed hard in the first moto crossing the line in third, but due to an incident on track, this then placed him down in sixth.
Heading into moto two for the youngster, we saw him shoot out the gate and start to work his way through the pack, ultimately putting the pressure on the race leader as he made a mistake just before the triple section, which then let Bobby through into the lead.
With the british crowd fully behind him, he continued on to lead for a few laps. Bobby’s pace quickened despite getting pipped for the race lead by Haakon Osterhagen, but an early finish to the race due to a red flag incident left Bobby down in second position, with a six – two scorecard for the day resulting in his first EMX125 podium finish on home soil.
