It has been reported that Jeffrey Herlings is about to make his return to racing.
According to MotocrossMag, Herlings will race at the penultimate round of the ADAC MX Masters at Bielstein on the weekend of August 31/Septermber 1.
Herlings has been quietly getting himself fit after breaking his ankle on a sighting lap at Kegums (MXGP of Latvia). The reigning world champion decided to tough it out for the opening moto and incredibly went on to win before the pain took hold and he sat out moto two.
He recently told MXGPtv that he would soon resume training on his KTM and has offered glimpses of his cycle training on his Instagram account.
The Bullet’s stated aim is to get fit and return in time for the Motocross of Nations on September 28/29 in his home country which will be held at the man-made sand circuit in Assen.
There are currently no reports on a return date for the MXGP series so we’ll have to wait and see if he feels ready to race at the MXGP of Sweden in Uddevalla on August 24/25. Herlings’ name is on the entry list for this weekend’s GP in Imola but that carries no weight ā he was also down for Lommel too.
The next grand prix after Sweden is in Turkey at Afyonkarahisar on September 7/8 before the MXGP circus heads off to Shanghai for the series finale, the MXGP of China on September 14/15.
