Jake Nicholls has today revealed he will not represent Team GB at the Motocross of Nations at RedBud, USA on October 6/7.

The Buildbase Honda rider posted the news on social media and understandably, considering the fine season he is having, is downhearted to miss out on MXoN. “Iā€™m disappointed not to get the chance to represent GB in this yearā€™s Motocross of Nations,” he wrote.

“Iā€™ve had a really strong year in the UK and feel like Iā€™ve earnā€™t my spot on the team through consistency and some good speed as well as having the experience of RedBud earlier this year.

“That being said I totally respect Markā€™s [Chamberlin, GB team manager] decisions, I wouldnā€™t want to be in his shoes itā€™s a tough one to call and the team is extremely solid nonetheless. I wish them all the luck in the event and really hope they can get the flag up above that podium again.”

Nicholls currently heads the MX1 British Motocross Championship standings with five moto wins from six rounds. He is 39 points ahead of Evgeny Bobryshev with reigning champion Graeme Irwin a further 13 points back.

With Nicholls confirming that he is out of the running that leaves Max Anstie, Shaun Simpson, Tommy Searle and Ben Watson as the likely candidates. It will be interesting to see which of the three have been given the nod. And one thing is for sure, Mark Chamberlin will not only be disappointing a rider, he is going to make some fans unhappy with opinion very much divided too.
