It has been confirmed that Graeme Irwin injured his wrist at the MXGP of Italy on Sunday and will now need surgery, which sadly means he will miss out on the Motocross of Nations at RedBud this weekend.

Irwin finished in 20th place in the opening moto, collecting one more point for his 2018 MXGP campaign but that was to be his last of the season after crashing in the second race, breaking his right wrist.

It’s a devastating blow for both the British champion and Team Ireland with the MXoN this weekend and the final British championship round at Lyng just one week later.

Irwin finished the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship in 26th place on 47 points.

Team Ireland has issued a statement on their position, which you can read here.
