Monster Yamaha new-boy Ben Watson will make his factory debut during this weekend’s second Italian Motocross round at Alghero.
Watson has been in Italy training with team-mates Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeremy Seewer, as well as some other MXGP riders but makes his competition debut on the 450 where he will be up against some more of the big names.
“Obviously with the season being so late I decided not to do Sardop, we stuck with Alghero, one race and see how things are,” Watson told DBR from his training base in Sardinia.
“It’s going to be more like a training session. It’s a race situation so we will look at starts, lap times and just being in a race with a few of the MXGP guys with a new bike and a new team, see how things are with the race mechanic.
“Then if anything stands out, we have time to work on it before the real season kicks off.”
