MXGP of Garda Trentino: Tim Gajser takes MXGP win

Superstar Slovenian Tim Gajser (Team HRC) signed off on top with a crushing victory in the second MXGP moto to secure the overall at the MXGP of Garda Trentino – the final round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship – and end the season with a 102-point title-winning advantage.
“It is unbelievable winning the last one,” said Gajser. “I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone – all my team, everyone. It’s just so emotional. I really wanted to win the last GP and I put everything together – we all did.”
In his final race at this level, France’s Gautier Paulin (Monster Energy Yamaha) holeshot the moto but it was his team-mate Jeremy Seewer who led after the first lap from Gajser who had slammed Arnaud Tonus in the first turn, sending the Swiss rider into Tony Cairoli (Red Bull KTM) and punting both off the track.
Cairoli quickly pulled in with a damaged bike, handing second in the title chase to Seewer.
Opening race winner Romain Febvre (Monster Energy Kawasaki) moved ahead of Seewer into second on lap four but there was no stopping Gajser who won by almost 16 seconds.
Just after half-distance Paulin pushed Seewer back to fourth to secure the third step on the podium and from here the top-four was set with Brian Bogers (Marchetti KTM) moving into fifth.
Evgeny Bobryshev (PAR Homes RFX Husqvarna) crossed the line in 10th after losing a position to Tonus in the closing stages, Dylan Walsh (JM Honda Racing) was 13th and Adam Sterry (Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee) picked up a couple of points for 19th.
