British bulldog Brad Anderson (Verde Sports KTM) goes into battle tomorrow at the MXGP of Pietramurata knowing he could wrap up the 2020 EMX2t title with Saturdayā€™s final round still to go.
The 39-year-old has dominated this yearā€™s series from the get-go on his 250 stroker, scoring comprehensive overall victories at the first three rounds with five wins and a second from six starts giving him a 49-point lead.
ā€œWeā€™re racing tomorrow and again on Saturday but hopefully I can wrap it up tomorrow,ā€ said Brad. ā€œThat would be nice. Iā€™m feeling good and relaxed, weā€™re just chilling out and treating it like a normal race.ā€
Surprisingly, despite his years of racing Brad only has limited experience of the spectacular track in the shadow of the Dolomite mountains in northern Italy. His EMX pedigree on a two-stroke is, however, unquestionable with two Euro titles in the last three years.
ā€œIā€™ve watched racing from Trentino loads of times but I think Iā€™ve only rode here once back when I was trying to qualify on a 125 which I didnā€™t manage to do.
ā€œThe track looks amazing but I think it might be hard to pass on. It might be different for us boys but all the MXGP and MX2 lads seemed to find it hard. A couple of holeshots would be nice, then I wouldnā€™t have to pass anyone but you know me ā€“ I always have to work for what I get!
ā€œIt looks grippy on top but you see a lot of the riders slipping out so it must be shiny underneath. Iā€™ll find out tomorrow ā€“ hopefully I can keep it on two wheels.ā€
Racing will get under way around noon in Italy so keep checking back for regular updates.
