Calvin Vlaanderen (Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Racing) will miss the final three rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship after injuring his hip in a practice crash.
The South African-born Dutchman ā€“ a member of Hollandā€™s victorious 2019 Motocross of Nations team ā€“ has been replaced by Brent Van doninck who has been released by his British-based ASA United Husqvarna team to allow him to compete.
ā€œObviously, Iā€™m very disappointed to end the season like this,ā€ said Vlaanderen, who currently sits 15th in the MXGP title chase. ā€œOn Wednesday, my last training on the bike for the season, I had a crash and hurt my hip. I needed a few stitches in my hip which will make me have to sit out the last few rounds.
ā€œIt was a challenging rookie year with many ups and a few downs but it sure was a good one! I had some small injuries throughout the year which didnā€™t help but Iā€™m proud I lined up to every race and did my best. A huge thanks to the whole Gebben Van Venrooy team for all the hard work and countless hours they put in this season!ā€
