Britain’s female motocross scene is growing apace with the recent launch of the British Women’s Motocross Championship, which is giving ladies an official pathway towards MXGP.

With new brands and sponsors like Eighty-One power drink jumping on board with sponsorship for Team Green Kawasaki Fast and Female duo Beanie Reece and previous BWMA Championship winner Chelsea Gowland, it’s helping to shine a light on females in the sport.

Beanie, who is only 14, is a relative newcomer to the sport, first sitting on a bike in 2018.Ā With a natural aptitude for riding and speed she finished a fine third in her first season in the BWMA Championship in 2019. Beanie also went on to sign for Team Green Kawasaki in late 2019 which lead her in to the Arenacross Tour in early 2020.

Two times BWMA Champion Chelsea Gowland is a seasoned competitor having ridden since five years old. “I was riding motorbikes before push bikes,” Chelsea explained. Sheā€™ll be aiming for a hat trick this year competing in the BWMA Championship, and also competing in the British WMX Adult Championship.

Covid-19 unfortunately cancelled last seasons racing calendar but the girls have been training and riding hard throughout the winter. They are both fit, race ready and hungry for the podium.

In Beanieā€™s words, “I want to win.”
