Tommy takes a double win in Brazil as Herlings struggles to master the gloop…

The Brazilian round of the FIM Motocross World Championship was certainly a wet and wild affair as rain lashed the Beto Carrero World circuit. The motos became a war of survival in a truly authentic mudder of epic proportions.

On an awe-inspiring stage for racing and in front of 42,000 noisy fans Team CP377 Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel was superlative to win the first moto by a massive one and a half minutes despite starting from 20thin the gate. The French ace took a steady fourth in the next moto to make sure of his second victory in the premier MX1 class this season after just five events. Next to the former AMA SX Lites Champion on the box was Monster Energy Yamaha’s David Philippaerts for the second week in succession and for the third year in a row in Brazil.

MX2 belonged to Floride Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle. The Brit, like Pourcel, sprayed winner’s champagne for the second time in 2012 and halved the points deficit in the championship chase to Jeffrey Herlings to just 20 after going 1-1 in the toughest race conditions of the year. Full props to Monster Energy Yamaha’s Christophe Charlier who picked up some silverware for the first time in his career with second overall while Diga KTM’s Jose Butron also made his first appearance on the podium by taking third overall.
