Monster Energy Supercross 450 rookie Chase Sexton will take his debut season on a race by race basis and will still have ‘brutally honest’ mentor James Stewart in his corner.

Sexton is in the Team HRC setup this season and has been working with the legendary Stewart since the middle of last season – something that has brought him plenty of attention, wanted or not.

“Itā€™s not so much pressure, but James does draw a lot of attention. For me, heā€™s been a really big help so far. I mean, I had him outdoors and he helped a lot with bike set-up, which is a big thing in the 450 class,” said Sexton.

ā€œDoing it so long, heā€™s helped me a lot with that and probably played the biggest role in helping me to set up my bike. Heā€™s pretty brutally honest, so he calls it how it is and sees me ride every day ā€“ he kind of knows where these guys are at.

ā€œIā€™m excited, he will be at Houston and weā€™re just going to take it race by race. I just want to be consistent, put myself in good positions, get good starts and let my riding do the talking. Weā€™ll see where weā€™re at because no-one knows, so Iā€™m ready to go.ā€
