Monster Energy Yamaha riders Justin Barcia and Aaron Plessinger had a tough night at Anaheim 2, round three of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series.

The first of three events this year to follow a Triple Crown format, Barcia ran 7-3 in the opening two Main Events before a big crash in the final race handed him a DNF with a suspected bruised coccyx. Plessinger, in just his third 450 supercross, recorded 12-9-6 finishes for seventh overall.

ā€œAnaheim 2 was a pretty good race for me,ā€ said Plessinger. ā€œI kind of was struggling with bike set-up all day and then after the last practice we made a shock change and it was great. I got a few bad starts in the first two Main Events which hurt my results but I felt good all night.

ā€œI rode what I thought was the best that I have ridden so I think I did pretty good for it only being my third 450 race. Iā€™m really amped for Oakland next weekend. Iā€™m going to go back and work on my starts, practice them all week and get it down pat so hopefully we can get up front and get a podium.ā€

Despite his DNF, Barcia sits fourth in the 450SX standings, just seven points behind the leader going into round four, while Plessinger holds ninth.
