Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Nate Thrasher had a career first this weekend in Atlanta, taking the 250SX Main event win even in the tricky track conditions.

Speaking about today’s events, Thrasher explained how surreal it’s been: “We got off to kind of a good start to the day in qualifying and we only had six or so laps on the track in the day.

“So you just kind of had to learn the track and adapt quickly, and second time qualifying got cancelled, so we had a decent gate pick going into the night. We knew could make that work and then had a little trouble in the heat race, a couple crashes, but had good speed in the races so I felt like it was going to be a good night.

“I just needed to get the LCQ and make it work, got through that and it went in the night and surreal moment for sure. So, it’s not sunk in yet, it will probably be tomorrow, so we’ll just take it day by day and then we just got to keep getting better.

“There’s still things to improve on, so we got to be ready for Tuesday and then Saturday, that’s a good thing about these three races back to back, you don’t really get time to sink it in. So you just gotta put your head down and go back to work.”
