Stefan Everts is continuing to successfully fight a Malaria infection that has plagued the 10-time world champion for the past month.
The latest illness update for Everts reveals he has been released from the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit in Belgium and is now on the next stage of his recovery in the rehabilitation centre where he is expected to stay for six weeks.
Everts contracted Malaria while taking part in a charity event in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in November 2018 and was admitted to hospital in early December where he was placed in an induced coma. Everts has continued to make a steady recovery in the past few weeks as he battled the dangerous tropical disease that is spread by mosquitoes and if not diagnosed and treated quickly, can be fatal.
In more positive news for the family, Stefan’s son, Liam, signed a multi-year deal with KTM recently.
