A source close to the Villopoto camp claims to have first hand knowledge of a private bet between four-time supercross champion Ryan Villopoto and eight-time world motocross champion Tony Cairoli.

We learned of the secret wager following the third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship after Cairoli again finished ahead of Villopoto, taking a 2-2 for the weekend against RV’s 4-4.

We’re told by our source, who does not want to be named as the information is not public knowledge that the rider who finishes below the other in the championship table will have to pay a forfeit.

We understand that Cairoli has secretly agreed that if he were to be below Villopoto in the championship standings by the time they reach the final round at Glen Helen USA, then he would wear a helmet and kit with a stars and stripes theme.

But what if Villopoto were to finish lower than Cairoli in the championship table? We’ve been led to believe that RV2 would agree to line-up at the gate with his mechanic on his back and go head-to-head against Cairoli and his mechanic in a game of piggyback braaap around Glen Helen.

We’re not sure which we’d like to see more but we’ve now got another reason to look forward to Glen Helen.
