Australia’s most successful Supercross star, Chad Reed, is to get some big competition at the 2016 AUS-X Open, following the official announcement that four-time Supercross champion Ryan Villopoto will be lining up at the gate alongside Speedy Reedy.

AUS-X Open event organisers used their social media accounts to release the news to their fan base last night. In their post on Facebook they said: “Confirmed – 4 x World Champion – Ryan Villopoto will make his first ever trip down under!

“More details to come. If you signed up for the pre sale, you can reserve your seats NOW, so check your email. Public on sale via Ticketek on May 25th, starting from $40.”

Villopoto hasn’t raced since his whiskey throttle moment at the 2015 MXGP of Trentino where he broke his tail bone, and months later the GP rookie announced his retirement from racing.

We know Reed will compete during both days of the event, with the second AUS-X Open taking place on November 12 and 13.
