Racer X reports that MXGP has lost a high-profile venue from their 2017 calendar ahead of the first gate drop of the season in Losail this weekend.

The report on Racer X says that the Monster Energy MXGP of USA at Charlotte Motor Speedway will no longer happen following a management change at the famous venue.

MX Large originally posted the story which said there is already a US replacement venue lined up and that it would be made public in the coming weeks.

Racer X have confirmed with another source that the race will no longer go ahead at the Charlotte venue. “Charlotte Motor Speedway has gone through a management change,” said the report, “and while the facility would still like to host the race, some terms would have to change, and that didn’t happen.”

Changes to the FIM Motocross World Championship schedule during the season are nothing out of the ordinary, but it is a surprise to see this venue disappear from the calendar, particularly when it already had a high-profile title sponsor (Monster Energy) attached to the round.
