Red Bull Factory KTM Youth MX2 rider Rene Hofer had his first race back after nine months following a shoulder injury which knocked him out of his debut race season.

The Austrian competed in the Italian series at the weekend and finished a solid 9th, despite not racing up to his normal standard and suffering with arm pump.

“First race after nine months is finally in the books and it was tough, not gonna lie,” said Hofer. “Racing is just super different from training and arm pump did not make it any easier yesterday.

“Somehow still made it to P6, but to be honest compared to what I did in training the last few weeks, I rode like the first man on a dirt bike haha! But no worries, I will do some more pre-season races before the GP’s start and then we will be 100% ready to race.”
