The opening round of the 2012 Red Bull Pro Nationals went off at Landrake over the weekend where a healthy turn-out of spectators got to bask in bright sunshine while they were treated to a display of vintage Stephen Sword.

The super-speedy Scot’s not had the best start to the season but he hardly put a tyre wrong in Sunday’s two points-paying motos, taking a gate-to-flag victory on the Tyco Suzuki by TAS in the opening race before backing it up with a race two win after taking full advantage of a slip by early leader Nico Aubin.

The RBPNs throw the MX2 men in with the 450s and top 250F pilot on the day was HM Plant KTM’s defending champ Elliott Banks-Browne whose 2-4 moto finishes translated into a perfect 1-1 in his class.

Swordy was joined on the MX1 podium flanked by PAR Honda’s Kristian Whatley and Buildbase Honda’s Aubin while Samsung Yamaha’s Steven Lenoir took second in MX2 ahead of Evo-Tech Steven’s Honda’s Neville Bradshaw.

Racing over both days, the emerging talent of the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup put on some great action on the challenging Cornish circuit. Overall victory in the Rookies went to Jake Millward while Josh Gilbert topped the BW85s, Taylor Hammal the SW85s and Tom Grimshaw carded a maximum five-from-five in the 65s.

No RBPN is complete without the pre-mix maniacs of the British 2-Stroke Championship where Carlton Husband ran out winner of a hotly-contested Expert 125cc division and defending champ Matty Moffat came home first in the Expert Open class. Bragging rights in the Juniors went to Jordan Bachelor (125s) and Adam Harris (Open).
