Red Bull KTM riders Jeffrey Herlings and Pauls Jonass were both involved in crashes at the weekend in Europe with both hitting their heads hard on the deck.
Herlings was competing in his first premier class moto in Italy at the Internazionali d’Italia after recovering from a wrist injury just two weeks ago. The Dutchman was sixth at the start and quickly made his way through the field, passing Team HRC Honda’s Tim Gajser when Herlings lost the back end of the 450 SX-F and went down, collecting Gajser with him. Herlings looked shaken and retired from the race.
In France, fresh from his impressive victory at the Hawkstone International in England the previous weekend, Pauls Jonass was racing at the LaCapelle-Marival Masters Motocross International. Unfortunately Jonass crashed hard while in the lead in the MX2 race and had to retire with a mild concussion.
Red Bull KTM confirmed today that both Jonass and Herlings will have precautionary medical checkups early this week.
