The motocross race season is about to get into full swing and one of the first major National events of the year will be the Michelin MX Nationals. The first round will take place at Preston Docks next weekend on March 5-6.

The rider entry is great this year and with racing on both days it is bound to be a fun and action packed weekend for all involved.

Spectator prices are extremely well priced at only £10 for both days, kids 10 and under are free. That’s 26 races over the two days for just a tenner!

The championship has only been running for two years and has quickly become one of the best established and well run series in the UK.

Put PR2 2HW into your sat nav to find your way to the Preston circuit and when you arrive you’ll have seven categories and classes to watch over the two days, with some of the best riders in the UK competing.

The Buildbase Honda Racing team will contest the full MX National series and this year they have also signed Graeme Irwin and Martin Barr to add to 2015 champion Kristian Whatley, making the team a force to be reckoned with this year.

“I can’t wait to fully kick-start my season again,” said Kristian Whatley. “It’s been a tough off season as I broke some bones in my foot so I’ve been waiting for that to heal. I’ve not had much time on the bike so I can’t wait to get going and looking at getting off to a strong start at Preston Docks in a couple of weeks’ time.”

Graeme Irwin, runner-up MX1 champ commented: “It will be great to race at Preston Docks with my new team, Buildbase Honda Racing and I am looking forward to pushing for some more wins this year.

“The MX Nationals is a well-run series and I enjoy how their championship is run. I just want to get going now and get the season rolling again.”

Martin Barr who finished third in the MX Nationals in 2015 said: “I’m really looking forward to getting 2016 started at one of my favourite tracks. The MX Nationals is going from strength to strength and I’m really proud to be part of it with my second year of being their rider representative.

“There is a lot of tough competition this year so the racing is going to be intense and very close, I can’t wait for the gates to drop!”
