In an agreement reached today, a new team called Lucas Oil Honda UK Racing will make its debut in the 2014 MX season.

Headed by Paul Butler – formerly head of Suzuki GB Youth Team – the Lucas Oil Honda UK Racing team will race on CRF Honda machines and compete in events including the UK Nationals and European MX Championships.

After landing 14 separate British Championships in just four years as Team Butler Racing, the new agreement matches an MX team with an impressive track record with one of the leading brands in Enduro, mx and motor sports worldwide.

“Racing on Lucas Oils is an exciting prospect and this agreement provides us with immediate access to an internationally respected brand of oils, additives and lubricants that is already associated with major mx success,” says Paul Butler.

The Lucas Oil Honda UK Racing team’s mx trail will be blazed by trio of young but experienced riders: Keaton Butler (17), Jack Timms (19) and Rob Wood (19).

They will represent Lucas Oil Honda UK Racing in the Maxxis MX1and MXY2 British Championships, as well as the BYMX at under 18 and under 23 level. There are also plans to race selected rounds of the European MX2.

“Lucas Oil Honda UK Racing will give us the opportunity to prove the performance of our products in one of the most demanding motorcycle racing environments,” says Les Downey, Managing Director of Lucas Oil Products (UK).

The move is further evidence of Lucas Oil’s growing commitment to mx and enduro racing in 2014. This agreement follows a deal last month with event organiser Enduroland, which sees the Lucas Oil Series of Race XC, Beach Race XC, Timber X and Enduro X events get under way this month. A new national outdoor arena at Adstone, Northampton, will be known as the Lucas Oil Arena.

Lucas Oil will continue with sponsorship of Paul Lyth’s two-stroke MX PAD Race Team throughout 2014, as well as the Bucci International Mini Bike Team.
