A motocross rider from Oxfordshire has set a new record at Weedon Motocross Track.
Simon Gill completed 354.5 miles in 24 hours, starting at 10am, June 24 and finishing at 10am the following morning, which beat the previous record by three miles.
Paul Oughton smashed the 24 hours greatest distance record in September 2013 with a distance of 351.5 miles (191 laps), which he completed at Rogershill Raceway near Bere Regis. We’re waiting to hear from Paul to see if he has plans to get the record back!
Speaking to the Daventry Express, Gill said: “I am really happy. I was hurting a lot after the challenge but was really ecstatic. I know I’ve beaten the record but am just waiting for the official confirmation.”
Simon is hopeful that the record attempted has helped raise £600 for Lupus UK. If you would like to donate, please visit www.justgiving.com/Simon-Gill24/
