Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship rider Nathan Watson has revealed that he will race the Hawkstone International MX this weekend, February 5.
With the British round of the EnduroGP series hitting Hawkstone Park this year it’s the perfect opportunity for Watson to remind himself of the sandy going in his first motocross race in over a year.
His father Rob Meek – who as a three-time winner of the now defunct New Year’s Day race knows a thing or two about racing at Hawkstone – has apparently just picked up the KTM 450 SX-F #91 rode at the Red Bull Knock Out.
“I’m really excited to be doing another MX event again after spending 2016 doing the world enduro championship,” said Watson. “It will be my first proper motocross race since September 2015.
“For me, Hawkstone will just be a bit of fun. I absolutely love the track, I am going there to enjoy it, and with the British round of the world enduro championship being held there later this year, it makes total sense – the fans are always amazing and I’m sure it will be a great day.”
Although Nathan says Hawkstone is just for fun, don’t be surprised to see him do well – we think he’ll be one of the best-placed Brits at the gnarly sand circuit.
His younger brother Ben Watson will join Nathan at the famous Hawkstone circuit as he makes his 2017 debut on the Hitachi KTM powered 250 SX-F.
