Stefan Everts is being treated in an Intensive Care Unit at a Belgian hospital it has been reported.
The reports say Everts contracted Malaria while visiting the Democratic Republic of the Congo three weeks ago ā he is said to have been attending a charity event.
Everts’ family confirmed the news to Belgian media on Friday but have not revealed the seriousness of his condition.
The NHS describes Malaria as a serious tropical disease that is spread by mosquitoes and if it is not diagnosed and treated quickly it can be fatal.
