With another MXGP round this weekend in France, fans have been asking when will Herlings return? Here’s the latest official Jeffrey Herlings update…
In the latest injury update on The Bullet, Red Bull KTM confirmed he is back on the factory 450 SX-F after recovering from surgery on his right foot in January.
The team say the reigning world champion has been completing short practice motos for almost three weeks and that Herlings has now recovered enough strength and stability in his foot in the wake of surgery at the beginning of the year which repaired several fractures.
Herlings suffered the injury in a training accident when in Spain just three weeks before the start of the 2019 MXGP season but is now in the later phases of his recovery but still has to confirm a Grand Prix for his return to MXGP action.
Sadly, he will certainly miss the trip to France this week.
Here’s what #84 had to say:
Jeffrey Herlings: “It feels great to be back on the bike again but I have to take things slowly and listen to what my body is saying.
“Sometimes I still have some pain in my foot and I need to train and get good time on the bike after three months of almost doing nothing. Basically I need to ride myself into shape.
“I want to come back to the track when I am 100 per cent but I know I wonāt be able to return and win ā it will take a few races to get back up to a good level and the rest of the guys are already pushing hard and have the rhythm of regular racing.
“Iām working hard and will be back as soon as possible.”
The next GP racing after France is in Russia on June 9, fingers crossed he’ll be set by then.
