Nathan Watson, the big brother of new Monster Energy Yamaha factory MXGP signing Ben, returns to the FIM Motocross World Championship next season as a member of the Honda France SR Motoblouz team.
The 26-year-old will defend his prestigious Championnat de France des Sables title – that’s the French beach race championship or CFS for short – before turning his attentions to MXGP.
Watson, who raced GPs before switching to the Enduro World Championship in 2016, won a bronze medal last season as a member of the British MXoN team and almost broke into the top-10 in the opening moto during a one-off ride at this year’s MXGP of Lommel.
“I’m really excited to get back into MXGP,” he said. “I’ve been wanting to get back motocross racing for the last few years and now I have the opportunity, I want to make the most of it!”
Watson will be joined on the team by French rider Benoit Paturel.
“We will defend our French MX1 title and in the MXGP we expect to be again the best private team with top-12 results,” said team boss Josse Sallefranque. “With our trainer Christophe Meyer, we will offer all our experience and knowledge to Nathan and Benoit – we know their potential, now it’s up to the team to help them to get the results we all expect.”
