Youthstream has made yet another change to the FIM Motocross World Championship schedule with an announcement of date changes, a venue reveal and the cancellation of a Grand Prix.
The series drops down from 20 rounds to 19 with the axing of the MXGP of Switzerland, Youthstream said that they hope to get the GP back on the calendar in 2020 but did not provide an explanation for the cancellation.
The MXGP of Italy is switched from September to August and the MXGP of Hong Kong will move from April 20/21 to September 21/22, which was at the request of the local organisation ā the organisers will take advantage of the extra lead time to prepare for their first Grand Prix.
The change means Hong Kong gets the honour of the championship finale one week ahead of the MXoN, leaving GP riders facing a trip back to the Netherlands for the prestigious September 29 race.
Lombardia now has a venue for their GP with Mantova hosting the May 12 round ā the circuit returns after being away from the series since 2016.
The updated 2019 MXGP schedule is below.
