A new team will run and manage the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing MX2 world championship programme in 2020 as Husqvarna Motorsports change to a new operational and management structure.
Starting from 2020, two factory-backed riders and one Husqvarna Motorsports officially supported rider will run in the MX2 class of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
In light of the fact that 17 rounds of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship remain, and out of respect for Jacky Martens and the entire JM Racing team, Husqvarna Motorsports will issue full details of the 2020 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing MX2 programme – rider line-up, management, team personnel and sponsors – close of the end of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship.
Husqvarna Motorsports state that they remain committed to supporting the JM Racing run Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing MX2 team and its riders in their pursuit of this year’s FIM MX2 World Championship title.
Diego Clement – Head of Motorsport at Husqvarna Motorcycles: “Without question, this is a significant and important decision for Husqvarna Motorsports and all parties involved. Intentionally, this announcement comes early in this year’s racing season so as to allow the necessary time to plan ahead for 2020 while also minimising any possible distractions surrounding the current team structure, during the weeks and months ahead.
“Our decision to look to the future and align the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing MX2 programme with a new team is well-considered. With talented MX2 riders already under multi-year contracts with Husqvarna Motorsports, this new partnership will ensure that Rockstar Energy Husqvarna continues to thrive and maintain its strong position in MX2 class competition.
“While this is an important change, Husqvarna Motorsport remains 100 per cent committed to supporting Jacky Martens and the entire JM Racing team as they challenge for this year’s MX2 World Championship title.”
