Tony Cairoli had worked his way into third place in the opening MXGP moto at the MXGP of Switzerland in Frauenfeld when he landed awkwardly after stalling the bike. The resulting crash left the multi-time world champion with an injured right knee.
Cairoli would finish the race in eighth place and then fought through the pain barrier for sixth in race two for a seventh overall.
