After putting his 2018 injury worries behind him Brian Bogers has delivered 100 per cent attendance in the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2019 but unfortunately, that streak has ended with the news that he will miss the MXGP of Sweden through injury.
The Team HRC pilot suffered a right-shoulder injury sustained at Imola last weekend when he was collected up in a crash by another rider in the final moto at the MXGP of Italy. The Dutchman fell awkwardly on his AC joint and he was forced out of the race.
Medical advice was to rest up and see if he would recover in time for Sweden but the 22-year-old has not healed sufficiently and is out for the Uddevalla round of the series.
“Obviously it is a big shame to be missing the Swedish GP this weekend,” said Bogers. “I tried my best to be ready for it, making sure to rest as much as possible but it just hasnāt healed in time to be able to race at MXGP level.
“I rode today [Thursday], just to see if it was good enough but I knew after a few laps that I wouldnāt be able to race on Sunday. My aim now is to get back fully healthy for the following round in Turkey where I really want to show everyone again what I am capable of.”
While Bogers may have attended every round of the 2019 MXGP season his results haven’t set the world on fire. He scored a season-best second-place finish in moto two in Mantova but other results haven’t gone his way and he was recently overlooked by Team Netherlands for their home MXoN in Assen in September. But he’s only 22 so still has time on his side.
