Yesterday news broke on a fallout between MXGP rookie Benoit Paturel and his new team, BOS KTM. And now it appears Paturel found out his contract had been terminated effectively via social media.

BOS KTM complained on their social media page that Paturel refused to train or test the KTM 450 SX-F machine. “We have still not convinced Benoit Paturel to train and test our machines in good conditions,” they bemoaned.

They continued: “After a few days of riding, Benoit and his entourage decided that the 450F (world championship winning bike) and the [metal] chassis did not suit him, without possible discussion.”

Today the talented French pilot had his say on the saga, of course, via social media.

It wasn’t confirmed yesterday that Paturel and BOS KTM had parted ways, although it was hard to see a way back. But now Paturel has confirmed the split. “I discover in the press the official announcement of the early termination of the collaboration that I started with TEAM BOS,” he wrote.

“It is regrettable that Mr BOSSARD’s communication is more efficient with the press than with his pilots.

“Without it being necessary to dwell on the termination of this contract and the motivations of this aborted collaboration, I wish good luck to Mr. BOSSARD and all his team.

“I do not know what my 2018 season will be like. Count on my determination to line up behind a starting grid.

“Athletically Benoit PATUREL.”

While Paturel couldn’t help but have a little dig in his statement, it’s good to see him wish the team well. It’ll be interesting to see where he lands after this setback.
