After the Salop Club announced that Jeffrey Herlings is to race at the Maxxis British Motocross round at Hawkstone Park on June 7 the team are looking forward to another great event.

Hawkstone will mark the halfway point in the series and Shaun Simpson on the Hitachi Revo KTM UK team has a 40 point lead over Tanel Leok on the LPE Kawasaki. In third place is Gert Krestinov, closely followed by Kristian Whatley and Brad Anderson.

The circuit is a firm favourite with Shaun Simpson and he’s looking forward to his second visit of the year: “We have the British GP this weekend and then a couple of weeks later Hawkstone, I can’t wait to get back to the track.

“We had a good weekend there at the International at the start of the year and it is nice to go there leading the Championship. The Salop Club always put on a good show and the track is always well prepared for us. There is normally a big crowd at the track and it’s great to have some good support at the races.”

And Simmo isn’t the only British rider looking forward to the Hawkstone round: “With this year going like it is so far, I’m looking forward to racing at Hawkstone,” said Ben Watson. “I know I can do well around there so I’ll go and do my best.

“It’s a brilliant track and I would like to prove what I can really do, as this year I’ve not ridden to my full potential. I hope the club can attract a big crowd as it always makes for a good atmosphere there.”

Former world champion Jeffrey Herlings will race his factory Red Bull KTM in the MX2 class and the top level riders will be hoping to challenge the former World Champion.

Dyer & Butler KTM’s Steven Lenoir is currently leading the MX2 standings with the Frenchman 16 points ahead of popular British pilot, Max Anstie. In third place is Ben Watson with Bryan Mackenzie and Adam Sterry hot on his heels.
