The sixth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship heads to Desertmartin in Northern Ireland where the teams will be greeted by the fantastic former Grand Prix venue with its hard standing paddock and challenging sandy circuit.

With three classes of action on track there is sure to be plenty to keep you entertained, including the final round of the MXY2 Championship for 2013.

Coming into the home round for the HM Plant KTM UK squad, it is the current reigning Champion Elliott Banks Browne who leads the way by 43 points over the rest of the field. Tied on points in second position are Evotech Stevens KTM’s Steven Lenoir and Neville Bradshaw on the Putoline Honda. Following his maiden Maxxis overall victory at Foxhill, Bradshaw will be hoping for a repeat performance.

Irish star Graeme Irwin on the Heads and All Threads Suzuki currently sits in fourth place and will be looking to produce three solid results in front of the home crowd. Pendrich Kawasaki rider Bryan Mackenzie has finally starting to outcome some early season injuries and will be looking to progress forward in the championship from the fifth place he currently holds.

Other riders to look out for in the MX2 class include home favourite Martin Barr on the VMX Moto.com – Nutt Travel KTM, Barr rode to a stunning second overall last year in the MX1 class and will be hoping for a similar result in the MX2 class. Also looking for a strong result will be Steven Clarke on the second of the HM Plant KTM UK machines, since returning to the Championship Steven has been mixing it at the front and will be looking to improve on the 9th place in the championship standings.

Foxhill produced a number of changes to the Championship standing in the MX1 class. Series leader Tanel Leok crashed out on the opening lap of the first race, breaking his collarbone in the process. Since the last round Tanel has had the collarbone operated on and will hope to be back on the bike and recover from the fourth place in the standing that he currently holds.

It was MBO Sports Yamaha’s Kristian Whatley that stepped up, taking two race wins and his first Maxxis overall victory on route the Championship lead. Jonathan Barragan on the STR KTM sits just ahead of Buildbase Honda’s Nicolas Aubin in third, with Leok dropping to fourth. Fifth place in the Championship is the former Champion Brad Anderson on the Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE machine.

Other riders to look out for in the MX1 class include the super-fast Latvian Matiss Karro who has only competed in two rounds of the series due to injuries but with podium finishes both times out; he is sure to be looking for a win around the demanding Desertmartin circuit. Irish riders to look out for include Gary Gibson and Wayne Garrett.

Desertmartin also features the final round of the MXY2 championship for this year. Currently leading the way is Robert Davidson on the MJW Kick Energy Kawasaki with a seven points lead over Brad Todd and Ben Putnam who are both tied on points. Mathew Callagham currently sits in fourth place with John Adamson just two points behind, but with so many top level riders in this class the victory could be taken by anyone of six or seven riders.

The action starts at 9am with the MX2 practice and qualifying session and the opening MX2 race taking place at 12:15pm. The circuit is about 45 minutes from the ferry port at Larne or Belfast and even less from Belfast International Airport and can be found using the postcode BT45 5QW
