Evgeny Bobryshev is now a two-time British champion after being crowned the 2018 MX1 British Motocross Champion following a second place overall at the final round of the 2018 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship at Lyng.

Bobryshev finished his British campaign five points ahead of Jake Nicholls while former British champion Tommy Searle finished third in the series on 212 points.

The 30-year-old hadn’t led the championship during 2018 but Nicholls’ freak accident last month and Bobryshev’s fairly consistent campaign ā€“ and two moto wins ā€“Ā had kept him in contention throughout.

Bobryshev had eased things for himself at Lyng by getting second place behind Searle in the opening moto, meaning Bobby only needed a fourth to win the championship. The second moto went much the same way as the first with Bobryshev following Searle home with another second place.

Two other champions were crowned at Lyng with Conrad Mewse taking his first MX2 British title, while in MXY2, Rossi Beard secured the championship with one race to spare.
