Injuries have sidelined Joey Savatgy for the Hangtown Pro Motocross opener this Saturday (May 18).
The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider will miss out on the momentum of a successful debut season in the 450SX class after succumbing to injuries suffered in the Supercross campagain.
The 25-year-old had to deal with two injuries during his 2019 SX season…
…Savatgy suffered a shoulder injury at Nashville and then a hematoma to his left leg at the Supercross finale in Vegas.
Sadly for Savatgy it looks like he’ll miss at least two rounds and could also miss Thunder Valley on June 1:
“Unfortunately I wonāt be lining up for the start of the outdoor series,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Between my nagging shoulder injury and my leg issue from Vegas, the goal right now honestly is Colorado at best.
“Iām bummed, havenāt missed a start of the mx series since 2014. But I want to get healthy and come back 100%. Sorry to let the fans down but Iām doing my best to return ASAP.”
He surprised a lot of people at the Monster Cup last year and during the 2019 SX season he impressed at times and made mistakes at others. It was certainly a very solid first year in 450SX as these five fast facts show…
Joey Savatgy’s first year in the 450 class
– Finished eighth in the rider point standings
– Failed to score points at two rounds; the final round in Las Vegas and early in the season at Glendale when he rang his bell in his heat race and that was his night done
– Five top-five finishes
– Best finish: fourth place at Minneapolis
– 450 Rookie of The Year
The 2019 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross season gets under way at Hangtown on May 18.
