Dean Wilson announced an injury last night that will leave the British rider out of not only next weekend’s (May 19) opening Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship round at Hangtown but the entire 2018 series.
A torn ACL is the latest in a run of injuries to test the resolve of the luckless Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider. Wilson’s injury happened while testing at a crowded Glen Helen track on Thursday.
“I was passing a slower rider and he moved over mid-air on me and I got cross jumped,” Wilson explained in an Instagram post. “I hit his rear wheel and put my leg out and my foot stomped the ground really hard to prevent me falling, as I did I heard my knee pop. After MRI results I have torn my ACL and will require surgery.”
It’s a huge injury blow for Wilson after, as he explained himself in his post, he had got himself in a great place ready for outdoors and now he will need to find the mental strength to fight back once more.
“I can’t believe this, just as I was feeling good for outdoors and ready for a fresh start with the outdoor season and something completely out of my control like this happens.”
Wilson is in the last months of his contract with the Factory Husky outfit and with freshly crowned Supercross champions Jason Anderson and Zach Osborne already signed for the team Wilson may fear he has already raced for the last time with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing.
But if there is one thing we all know about Dean Wilson, it’s that he has a heart of a lion and will fight and fight. And he’s already showing that incredible mindset. “I’m Completely gutted. I’ll do everything in my power to come back from this even stronger, whether I remain where I’m at or do it on my own. I know what I’m capable of. Thanks everyone for the support.”
Everyone at Dirt Bike Rider wishes Deano a full and speedy recovery.
