It has been formally announced that Michelin Tyre Plc will be the title sponsor for the MX Nationals in 2015, with the series now being known as the MICHELIN MX Nationals.
Having supported the series since its beginning, Michelin is keen to continue to show its dedication to the sport and the impressive British motocross racing scene in general.
With some fantastic venues already lined up, such as Hawkstone Park and Canada Heights, the 2015 series is set to offer some explosive MX racing action. The Michelin team will be present at all rounds and details of their technical rider support and tyre fitment service are due to be released in the New Year.
“The team at MX Nationals are delighted to have Michelin as our title sponsor in 2015,” said Paul Irwin, Director of MX Nationals.
He added: “We have always received a high level of support from Michelin over the years and certainly riders and spectators alike will not have failed to notice the 20 foot tall Michelin Man at each of this year’s rounds – we are certainly looking forward to welcoming him back for 2015!”
The MICHELIN Cup
To celebrate the partnership, Michelin has also announced the introduction of the MICHELIN Cup – a new competition for all riders within the 2015 Championship. Any rider in any class will have the chance to win some fantastic prizes provided they are racing on MICHELIN tyres. This is a unique opportunity to see an 85cc rider effectively competing against a Pro. Points will be awarded per race, and will be monitored throughout the season to produce the overall MICHELIN Cup winner at the end of the series. Further details and prizes will also be announced in the New Year.
Michelin Marketing Manager, James Dimmock commented on the announcement: “Michelin is committed to its support of the British off-road racing scene, and is excited at the chance to be involved with the very talented riders competing in the 2015 MICHELIN MX Nationals.
Dimmock continued: “We already have a comprehensive range of off-road tyres designed specifically to meet the needs of different terrains and we’re confident that our association with the MX Nationals will allow many more motocross riders to discover the advantages of riding on MICHELIN tyres.”
Dates have been confirmed for each of the six rounds in the 2015 MICHELIN MX Nationals, with only one final venue yet to be announced.
