The Be Wiser Hawkstone International in association with PlayGrand.com will see the end of an era for one of the fans’ favourites at Hawkstone Park with Marc de Reuver making his final appearance at the International on February 7.
The likeable rider has won at Hawkstone three times. Once taking the race to a whole new level in 2003 when he took the overall Superfinal win on a KTM 125! A feat never achieved since.
Unsurprisingly, De Reuver is a great fan of the Hawkstone Park track and is looking forward to his last race there, “I decided to do another year of riding and I will ride in very selected races, said the 32-year-old veteran.
“Hawkstone Park has always been one of my favourite tracks to race at, I love the place and also all the fans that come out to support us.
“The atmosphere is always incredible, the track is fantastic to ride and the people that run it are amazing!”
De Reuver is the latest in a long list of star riders to sign up to the unofficial UK outdoor season opener, with fellow Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings, British champ Shaun Simpson and new Kawasaki MXGP recruit Clement Desalle just a few of the top riders ready to line up at the gate on February 7.
De Reuver had planned to compete at Hawkstone in 2015 but a poorly timed illness struck, “Last year I had to miss the race as I was sick the night before and had to go home. It will be my last ever race at Hawkstone and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Dutchman added: “I would like to thank everyone from Hawkstone, the fans and organisers for all their support over the years.”
There are still entries left in all classes, MX1, MX2 and MXY2 entries are now open by contacting Gary Ford ford542@btinternet.com.
