British championship racer Lewis Tombs is looking for a ride for next season after being released by the Verde Sports KTM team.

The 30-year-old Suffolk-based racer is a regular top-10 runner in the ACU British Motocross Championship and has been a title contender in both the Pro MX1 and MX2 classes of the Michelin MX Nationals over the past three seasons.

ā€œI got told the day before yesterday that there was nothing there for me,ā€ said Lewis. ā€œIt’s a bit of tough news and I’ve no idea what I’m going to do – I don’t think there’s anything out there for anyone to be honest. It’s tough, especially because although I only did four races [in the MX Nationals] and showed good speed I didn’t have great results. That’s not going to help me.

ā€œI’ve spoken to a few people but everyone’s waiting on stuff. Obviously, I want to carry on but everything’s got to be right really. It’s a big commitment and I don’t want to be doing it half-hearted. Hopefully something will come up.ā€

For the moment Lewis is concentrating on his building firm instead of planning out his 2021 season.

ā€œI’ve got a plot about five miles outside of Bury [St Edmonds] and we’ve just started two houses and I’m just doing all the groundwork at the minute so that’s keeping me very busy. I’m knee-deep in mud so at least I feel like I’m at a race!ā€
