Justin Barcia is out for the season Honda announced yesterday.
Barcia had already missed last weekend’s Thunder Valley National and now the 22-year-old former Supercross Champion will miss the remaining rounds of the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season, due to what is reported as a chronic ankle issue.
“I’ve consulted with several doctors and they all agree that this surgery is the only way to fix the problem,” said Justin. He will undergo surgery soon and will start rehab at the appropriate time.
Justin added: “I cannot wait to ride without pain and I will do everything I can to come back with a vengeance.”
It’s been a mixed start to the season for Barcia, mainly due to a poor moto one result at Glen Helen when a rock got lodged in his bike’s sprocket, which caused the chain to fail, sidelining him for the remainder of the race. But things improved for BamBam significantly with a 4-5 (fifth overall) result at the Hangtown Motocross Classic leaving him 11th in the 450-class standings after the no-show of Thunder Valley.
Let’s hope he’ll be ready to steam full on into the 2015 Supercross season.
