Swordy’s set to extend Red Bull Pro Nationals series lead on home soil…

On the eve of the Red Bull Pro Nationals’ historic first foray north of the border we caught up with MX1 series leader – and proud Scot – Stephen Sword of the Tyco Suzuki by TAS team to get his take on this weekend’s Caledonian clash at the spectacular Duns circuit.

“It’s great to be heading up to Duns again,” says Swordy. “The track is awesome and will produce some great racing. I’ve had good success over the years there and come Sunday I will be looking to extend my championship lead.

“The home support will be fantastic for me and giving me that extra boost will help. A win on Sunday would be sweet. This is a championship I want to win badly and I’ll be hanging it out on home turf.”

The proud Scot faces some stiff opposition with dashing Dutchman Marc De Reuver of the Lanes Kawasaki team leading the charge just seven points off the championship lead. Next up is Swordy’s new team-mate Martin Barr from Northern Ireland who’s just three points further back. Dave Thorpe’s flying Frenchman Nico Aubin is in fourth on the Buildbase Honda and only six points behind Barr with Estonian Gert Krestinov fifth before the first Englishman – Josh Waterman – in sixth.

Duns Motocross is located three miles west of Duns on the Duns to Longformacus road. The postcode for the track is TD11 3NS.
